House Members Announce the Congressional FinTech and Payments Caucus at ETA Holiday Reception

Today, during the ETA Holiday Reception, the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Payments Technology Caucus, Representatives Lynn Westmoreland (GA-03), Randy Neugebauer (TX-19), David Scott (GA-13), and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09) announced that the caucus will now be known as the Congressional FinTech and Payments Caucus. The new name expresses how new and innovative financial technologies are changing the broader payments landscape, in addition to its continued focus on data security, and increasing the underserved users’ access to electronic payments. Given that ETA members are at the forefront of payments and technology, enabling $6 trillion in U.S. spending annually, we understand how important the work of this caucus is to American consumers and our nation’s economic vitality.

“We applaud the Congressional Payments Technology Caucus for including financial technology in its name and its focus,” said Jason Oxman, CEO of ETA.  “Since its founding two years ago, the Caucus has invigorated congressional discussion on the importance of payments technology to merchants, consumers and the U.S. economy.  As the trade association of the payments technology industry, ETA now represents more than 500 of the nation’s most innovative financial and technology companies, from Amazon to American Express, Apple to Chase, First Data to Google, Intel to Intuit, PayPal to Visa, and more.  We are excited to continue our work with the Caucus on behalf of all financial and technology innovators.”
