Apple and Circle Fuel Global P2P
9-14-2016

Powerhouse ETA member companies Apple and Circle are teaming up to enable cross-currency, peer-to-peer payments all via text message. Available on the new iOS 10, Circle for iMessage can transfer U.S. Dollars, Bitcoins, Pounds Sterling or Euros easily, instantly and globally between individuals using iMessage and can submit payments to those on SMS/MMS.
Customers using this new P2P option on iOS 10 will find a built in Circle app in iMessaging, and will be ready to go once they’ve linked a debit card to their account. Adding to the platform’s appeal and accessibility, consumers aren’t charged to send money using Circle for iMessage.
In their blog, Circle Founders Jeremy Allaire and Sean Neville said, “When we started Circle, we had a vision that “money should work the way that the internet works” — instant, open, global, free, and fun. We can share messages, experiences and photos and videos with one another; we can communicate in real-time with anyone on the planet; we can publish our news and opinions through any form of content, all in an instant, open, global, free and delightful way. Why shouldn’t money work the same way?”
