Stripe and Parse Partner for Mobile Payments
Mobile development startups Stripe and Parse have announced an agreement to integrate their development and mobile payments products. Stripe offers mobile payment tools to app developers, while Parse provides server-side mobile development tools. Both companies are products of the Y Combinator accelerator and have long had a friendly relationship. The new agreement will see Parse integrate Stripe’s payment service within Parse’s development platform, instantly adding the ability to accept credit card payments to some 60,000 existing apps. Stripe developer Alex MacCaw says the new arrangement will enable developers of Parse-based apps to add payment functionality to their products without having to do any of their own server-side coding. Parse CEO Ilya Sukhar says integrating payment functionality has been difficult, tedious, and complicated for developers, even as it becomes essential for developers to have such functionality in order to successfully monetize their products.
