David W. Nelms is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Discover, a company he has led since 1998. In addition, he served on the Federal Reserve Federal Advisory Council from 2010 to 2014, and he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in early 2014. Prior to joining Discover, David worked at MBNA America Bank from 1991 to 1998, most recently as a vice chairman. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
