In the past decade, the payments industry has been innovating at a rapid pace to accomplish the demand for a frictionless checkout process. Such a process benefits the merchants in helping them serve their customers better.

At this year’s TRANSACT, another one of the presentations held was “Meeting Customers’ Demands for Frictionless Checkout,”  moderated by John Drechny, CEO at Merchant Advisory Group, with main stage speakers Ron Collins, Manager of Treasury Operations at Dignity Health, Dan German, Director of Global Acceptance, Commerce & Ecosystems, and Cloud and AI at Microsoft, and Kara Kazazean of WalMart.

The panel discussed how the payments industry can provide value to consumers, leading to the adoption of easy and innovative methods of payment by merchants. “When we are evaluating new payments technology or innovations, ultimately, what’s the benefit for the customer,” Kazazean said when asked how the main stage speakers evaluate where to invest in new payments solutions.

The main stage speakers also gave insight into what they have learned from implementing payments innovations, and what they are looking for from service providers in taking care of customer solutions. “Taking the time to make sure you understand what problem your merchant partners are trying to solve for is critical,” Kazazean says. Regarding what he has learned from implementation, German says “We really spend a lot of time understanding our customers and understanding what payment methods are the most relevant for them.”
