VC Investment in FinTech Rebounds

Following a cool 2015 Q4, fintech has roared back on the scene as a hot investment for 2016’s first quarter.

A new report from KPMG and CB insights says that worldwide, investment in private fintech companies was $5.7 billion for the first quarter, while VC backed fintech investment reached $4.9 billion dollars – up an astounding 96% from the $3.5 billion invested in Q1 2015. During this year’s first quarter, VC funded fintech players closed 128 deals to the tune of $1.8B – up 80% from the previous quarter. Corporate investment remains important to the rise of fintech, with participation in nearly a quarter of all deals inked.

The report points to a strong year for fintech, and suggests that investment will remain bullish in this burgeoning industry for the foreseeable future.
