Report: Merchants Updating, Upgrading to mPOS and Omnichannel
2-6-2020
A new report from Retail Consulting Partners has found that nearly six in ten merchants in North America want to add omnichannel commerce to their payments systems this year as they consider updating their point-of-sale devices.
Where 59 percent want to add omnichannel capabilities to their storefront, 44 percent said they are prioritizing mobile point-of-sale devices and unified commerce solutions, underscoring the importance of capable and tech-forward payments solutions to merchants.
Only 30 percent of respondents said that hardware upgrades were a priority for their point-of-sale, and only 7 percent of merchants said security and PCI compliance were priorities.
Mobile payment wallets are also popular among merchants, with 64 percent of merchants surveyed indicating that they already accept Apple Pay, and 26 percent predicting that they will within two years. Similarly, 44 percent of merchants say they accept Google Pay, and 26 percent said they accept Samsung Pay. Click here to read more about the report.
