ETA CPP Corporate Spotlight: North American Bancard
10-7-2021

ETA relies on its member companies to collaborate on webinars and to actively participate in our various committees to enhance our offerings to the payments industry. Our member companies also benefit from using ETA to enhance their employee learning and development offerings, which includes encouraging employees to earn the ETA Certified Payments Professional (ETA CPP) designation. North American Bancard (NAB) has been an active supporter of the ETA CPP program and has sponsored the exam for its employees since 2013. During its first year of sponsorship, 35 NAB employees registered for the ETA CPP; now, more than 75 NAB employees apply and participate in the ETA CPP exam each year.
“From a business perspective, the ETA CPP designation communicates to merchants and sales partners that we are trusted industry experts,” said Katie Hackney, Senior Learning & Development Specialist at NAB. “Internally, certification carries just as much weight; it indicates to our leaders and colleagues that we are committed to self-development and passionate about continuous learning. The ETA CPP program helps candidates step out of the comfort zone of their job-specific knowledge and learn about the industry from a broader perspective. It additionally has the benefit of connecting employees across different teams, locations, and companies within our organization.”
NAB’s executive leadership firmly believes in serving as thought leaders and industry role models. To demonstrate their commitment to these ideals, executive leaders all participated in the program a few years ago and became ETA CPPs. “They have led by example and inspired others to follow in their footsteps,” said Hackney. “Employees who are passionate about continuous learning and career development seek out this certification and know that they have full support from leadership. The learning experience is collaborative, meaningful, and fun as well!”
