ETA Underwriting Guidelines

The ETA Underwriting Guidelines provide guidance to payments technology companies to maintain strong and modern risk management programs. The ETA Guidelines were developed by ETA in conjunction with the ETA Risk, Fraud & Security Committee, which consists of legal, policy, and industry experts.

ETA Payment Facilitator Guidelines

The third edition of the ETA Payment Facilitator Guidelines provides a framework for properly incorporating risk and compliance into the payment facilitator business model. These guidelines include tools for the underwriting and risk management of submerchants (also known as sponsored merchants).

The guidelines are free to members and $800 for non-members.

ETA Guidelines on Merchant and ISO Underwriting and Risk Monitoring

The fourth edition of the ETA Guidelines on Merchant and ISO Underwriting and Risk Monitoring is grounded in the operating regulations of the various payment networks, existing governmental regulations, and industry best practices for risk management. Updates in the fourth edition include those related to ecommerce, COVID-19, merchant registration, privacy, best practices for identifying additional red flags when evaluating merchants, and updates regarding the FinCEN Beneficial Ownership Customer Due Diligence (CDD) rule.

The guidelines are free to members and $800 for non-members.
