ETA Urges Congress to Fund Additional Small Business Relief as PPP Funds are Exhausted

WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 15 2020 – The following statement is attributed to Jodie Kelley, CEO, Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), the global trade association for the payments technology industry, regarding the depletion of the funds set aside in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

“We applaud Congress for its quick action to help Americans mitigate the effects of coronavirus (COVID-19) by passing the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act – including helping American small businesses by establishing the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

In the last 10 days, ETA members – banks and fintech lenders – have helped tens of thousands of American small business owners access billions of dollars under the PPP. As the PPP has reached the limit set by Congress, there are thousands of small businesses that still need access to PPP funds. We urge Congress to act swiftly to allocate additional funds to the PPP.  ETA members stand ready to assist small businesses and consumers affected by COVID-19.”
