BlueSnap Promises to Simplify Online Payments
BlueSnap, formerly known as Plimus, is changing its location as well as its name as it moves to Boston from Silicon Valley with the goal of making online payments simpler. “We’re a buying platform that allows merchants to focus on their customers, not technology,” says BlueSnap CEO Ralph Dangelmaier. BlueSnap claims to support more than 250 different payment types, and currently provides services to 5,000 merchants in 145 countries using cloud technology. Dangelmaier says the company aims to sign up 50 merchants a week over the next year. Customers will be able to visit a Web site and purchase items on any page, or with the shopping cart model. BlueSnap also promises to ease shopping by saving all of the payment data filed with an initial purchase, so that later transactions can be made with just one click. “We have a system set up to screen merchants, and we’ve hired a professional with 30 years’ experience to handle risk and compliance,” Dangelmaier notes.
