ETA Files Comments to FTC on Safeguards Rule
ETA submitted a comment letter in response to the FTC’s proposed rulemaking regarding their safeguards rule. The letter asks that any requirements remain flexible and that prescriptive requirements limit innovation. Additionally, the letter recommends changes to the proposed rule which includes defining sensitive customer information so that these requirements are better harmonized with the New York Cybersecurity requirements and that the scope of date that needs to be encrypted even at rest is appropriate. Lastly, the letter asks for additional options for multi-factor authentication including text messages.
