Video: A Fireside Chat with Google Pay’s Spencer Spinnell, from TRANSACT
7-22-2019
Recently, Google has been incorporating itself into the payments industry with its own payment product: Google Pay. Originally known as Android Pay, Google Pay has become a innovation in the way that consumers make payments .
Featured at TRANSACT this year was a conversation on Google Pay and mobile payments between Amy Zirkle, Interim CEO at ETA, and Spencer Spinnell, Director of Emerging Platforms at Google, appropriately titled “Fireside Chat with Spencer Spinnell.”
The two discussed the cultivation and benefits of Google Pay’s partners, as well as the features the platform offers. “Google Pay is a connection of a user’s financial relationship with Google,” Spinnell says, “and ideally, helping the user to better understand how they can get done what they need to get done on a daily basis faster, more efficiently, and with less friction.”
The pair also discussed the future of conversational commerce, as well as the next big thing that could potentially drive the payments industry. “What you are going to start to see is a pretty significant wave of integrations and innovation which is really going to revolutionize how we all as consumers engage,” Spinnell says. On the topic of conversational commerce, Spinnell says, “form factors like voice commerce can add value for consumers and merchants, while driving velocity for payments technology companies as well.”
