Joseph Otting, a former banking executive with over 30 years of experience in the industry, was sworn in Moday as Comptroller of Currency by US Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin.
Otting’s career includes time spent in leadership roles at U.S. Bank, Union Bank and OneWest. As Comptroller, Otting will be responsible for writing banking rules and helping to monitor the health of Wall Street, Reuters reported.
“We congratulate Joseph Otting on his swearing in today to serve as the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency and we look forward to working with him to create a positive regulatory environment” said ETA CEO Jason Oxman Monday.
Otting’s appointment was confirmed earlier this month by the Senate. Read ETA’s statement on his appointment here, and click here to read ETA’s policy considerations that foster economic growth and innovation.
