TRANSACT Introduces Contactless Zone Presented by FreedomPay

New area focuses on how contactless payments will make transactions at the point of sale frictionless.

February 22, 2018– TRANSACT, the world’s largest payments technology trade show, will bring together financial institutions, mobile payment and mobile wallet providers and platforms driving contactless payments. The new Contactless Zone, presented by FreedomPay, will focuses on how contactless payments, either through a mobile phone or contactless card, streamlines the point of sale (POS) process while increasing safety.  TRANSACT will take place April 17-19, 2018, in Las Vegas, Nev.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of the Contactless Zone at TRANSACT to highlight the innovation and collaboration advancing the growth of contactless payments.” said Jason Oxman, CEO of Electronics Transactions Association (ETA). “As consumer expectations for payments evolve, companies must look to contactless to find a way forward. Contactless payments offer better security, convenience and opportunities for innovation.”

TRANSACT will allow payments professionals to experience the impact of contactless payments and how they will simplify, secure and speed up the payments process at the point of sale. According to ETA’s Payment Trends to Watch in 2018,, U.S. merchants will spend nearly $1.7 billion in POS hardware in each of the next two years. POS vendors provide retailers with the means to bring value to the shopping experience, along with providing a variety of payment types and services that will enable retailers to meet consumers demands.

“FreedomPay is excited to sponsor the Contactless Zone to showcase the now-available and upcoming technology surrounding NFC payments and our dedication to providing solutions to merchants across all industries,” said Matt Donnelly, Vice President of Security and Solutions at FreedomPay. “With the implementation of EMV, there has been a major concern regarding speed of service for various retailers, hoteliers and food service providers. The EMV migration was quickly followed by the introduction of contactless payments in various other countries. FreedomPay has prioritized development and certification efforts in the states to ensure that merchants processing on the FreedomPay Commerce Platform, FreeWay, have the ability to implement this functionality to enhance the overall consumer experience.”
