Mobile Breaks Records as Cyber Monday becomes Cyber Week

December 2, 2014 – Mobile has already made its mark on the 2014 holiday shopping season. IBM’s Digital Analytics Benchmark Hub shared analysis of its consumer transaction data, revealing a record five days of cyber-spending.

From Thanksgiving Day to Cyber Monday, online sales were up 12.6% compared to last year and mobile sales were up 27.2%. On Cyber Monday, mobile electronic payments represented 22% of all online sales, up 27.6% from 2013.  Mobile also made up more than 40% of overall Cyber-Monday on-line traffic, a 30% increase over the previous year. Consumers using Apple devices accounted for more than four times the number of electronic transactions than those using Android devices.
