Kalixa NFC Mobile Wallet Targets Every Phone in Europe

The Kalixa Group has released an NFC mobile wallet in the U.K. market and plans to roll out the toolkit across Europe in the next few months. Consumers will be able to use their mobile phone to tap and pay for goods, check their balance, locate merchants and ATMs, and make wallet-to-wallet transactions, supported by MasterCard’s PayPass technology. Using Kalixa’s mobile wallet, consumers also can withdraw cash at ATMs, make online purchases, and shop at retail outlets that do not accept contactless payments. The NFC chip and technology are not native to the device itself, which will help reduce unauthorized transactions if the user loses or sells their phone. The Kalixa NFC tool will work with almost any device and will work with any mobile operator. To use the mobile wallet, customers will need to transfer funds into their account in the same way as using a prepaid MasterCard. An iPhone version already has been launched, and the technology will soon be available for Android-based devices.
