iPhone Users Bigger M-Commerce Shoppers Than Android Users
Sixty-nine percent of U.S. iPhone users make purchases with their devices versus 53 percent of Android owners, according to a survey of 53,427 U.S. adults conducted by Forrester Research. The survey also found that iPhone owners do more research from their smartphones than transactions, which implies that companies are increasingly understanding the value of mobile investment. Nearly a third of 145 polled e-business professionals intend to spend at least $1 million on mobile in 2013 compared to 24 percent who planned to spend that amount last year. Fifty-four percent of e-business professionals said they possess a mobile iPhone app while 34 percent are planning to launch one by year’s end. Meanwhile, 44 percent have a mobile Android app and 30 percent plan to roll one out. Forrester also points to an increase in mobile-optimized websites, with 70 percent of business professionals surveyed in 2013’s first quarter saying their company supported a mobile site, in comparison to 56 percent polled in the same period last year.
