ETA’s International Payments Day in Washington, D.C.
June 5, 2014 -ETA hosted International Payments Day in Washington D.C. June 4, 2014. The day of high-level meetings focused on the challenges and opportunities for the payments system around the globe.
The event attracted opinion leaders including ETA member company executives, representatives from Embassies, Hill staff, other trade associations, and lawyers. They heard from policymakers from the EU Ambassador’s Office , U.S. Commerce Department, and USTR on how trade agreements can affect the payments industry.
ETA members Pivotal Payments, Visa, EVO Payments, and Planet Payment presented on the landscape of the payments industry in Canada, the EU, China, and Latin America. Topics covered included data breach, EMV, migration, the importance of building partnership in foreign countries, and banking the unbanked.
