ETA Welcomes PJ Hoffman as New Director of Regulatory Affairs

January 3, 2017─ The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), the global trade association of the payments technology industry, today announced the hiring of seasoned policy professional Philip (PJ) Hoffman as its new Director of Regulatory Affairs.

“PJ brings extensive policy experience to our growing ETA team,” said Jason Oxman, CEO of ETA. “His background in fintech and banking policy is important for our members, with dynamic change requiring top notch regulatory and legislative ETA advocacy for financial services, payments and fintech.”

Hoffman joins ETA at a time of immense growth for the Association, which is the primary voice of more than 500 global companies in the payments and fintech industry.  ETA’s government affairs team actively represents member company interests before state regulators, federal courts, and more than a dozen federal technology and financial industry regulatory agencies.

“I’m thrilled to add PJ to our expanding policy team during such an exciting time for our industry,” said Scott Talbott, SVP of Government Affairs for ETA. “His experience and knowledge of the regulatory environment will strengthen ETA’s ability to represent our members’ interests in DC and across the nation.”

Hoffman joins ETA from Pepper Hamilton LLP, where he focused on counseling banking and fintech clients concerning issues involving consumer financial services, payments, and state and federal regulatory issues. Hoffman also served as the Regulatory Affairs Counsel at the National Association of Federal Credit Unions and worked for several years in political campaigns across the nation. He holds a BA from Illinois Wesleyan University and a law degree from University of Miami Law School.

“I am thrilled to represent ETA’s dynamic and innovative financial and technology member companies,” said Hoffman. “ETA members are bringing exciting innovations in payments technology to consumers, and I look forward to helping regulators understand the need for policies that advance innovation.”
