ETA Statement on the Death of Mary Albert
The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our beloved coworker Mary Albert. Mary joined ETA in 2015 as Director of Regulatory Affairs and was responsible for the representation of ETA and its members before state and federal regulatory agencies.
Mary was a native Washingtonian with a long and distinguished career in government service, private practice, and trade association legal work. Across a distinguished 35-year legal career, Mary represented clients at four Washington, D.C. law firms, served as a staff attorney at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, worked as in-house counsel at a telecommunications company, and, prior to joining ETA, spent a decade as Assistant General Counsel at the trade association INCOMPAS. Mary was a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and of Wells College, where she was also Phi Beta Kappa.
“From her days championing competition among telecom and broadband companies, to her more recent work advancing the policy goals of payments technology innovators, Mary was a tireless and effective advocate,” said Jason Oxman, CEO, ETA. “But more importantly, Mary was a wonderful person. In the two decades that I knew and worked with Mary, I appreciated her friendship, warmth, sharp wit, infectious laugh, and incredible intellect. I was thrilled when she joined us at ETA last year, and all of us at ETA will miss having her as part of our family. Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to her family and friends.”
