ETA Debuts Payment Sales and Strategy Committee at NEAA
The Electronic Transactions Association’s Amy Zirkle and Scott Talbott attended the Northeast Acquirers Association’s conference in Boston last week, where they addressed a number of vital issues of importance to the acquiring industry.
One issue in particular was that of the ever-evolving mobile marketplace – specifically, the tremendous opportunities it affords ISOs to better serve their customers by offering new products and services.
ETA was excited to officially hold the first meeting of its newly formed Payment Sales and Strategy Committee, where its members came together to discuss a variety of important matters relating to the sales channel, especially in light of what technology is enabling and how it can leverage this to expand business. According to Amy Zirkle, VP, Industry Affairs, ETA formed this committee in response to the myriad of changes in the marketplace that ISOs must confront, and to take a long-term strategic view of the emerging business opportunities that lie ahead. On the political end, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Scott Talbott discussed the work of federal regulators, pursuing various players in the payments industry for legal violations committed by merchants. He also discussed ETA’s growing advocacy initiatives on behalf of the payments industry. To learn more about ETA’s government affairs program, click here.
“I was pleased to serve last week on NEAA’s panel focused on the policy environment for ISO’s,” Talbott said. “Given my role as head of public policy for the ETA, I discussed how the payments industry is on the radar screen for federal and state regulators. The regulators are looking at the players in the payments industry as a source of tax revenue, enforcement of existing laws, as well as expanding their authority.”
We thank NEAA for having us, and look forward to going more in-depth at TRANSACT16 this April.
