ETA Applauds Introduction of Data Breach Notification Bill
May 1, 2015 – The Electronic Transactions Association applauds the leadership of Chairman Randy Neugebauer, Chair of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit and one of the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Payments Technology Caucus, as well as Rep. John Carney (D-DE) who introduced the bipartisan “Data Security Act of 2015,” HR 2205. The bill creates a federal standard for data breach notification. Given the myriad of state notification laws, having one law will provide certainty to consumers and businesses. We look forward to working with Chairman Neugebauer and Rep. Carney, as well as the other member of the House Financial Services Committee, to advance this important bill.
